Olivia J. Healy

Postdoctoral Associate| Applied Policy Scholar

My research is in applied microeconomics and public policy, with a focus on labor, children and families, education, gender, and health. One current line of my research explores the effect of parenthood on mothers’ and fathers’ job performance, human capital, and career advancement. In another line of research, I examine intended and unintended consequences of government efforts to expand access to high-quality early care and education programs through increased public options and accountability systems.

I am currently a postdoctoral research fellow at Cornell University in the Brooks School of Public Policy. I received my Ph.D. from the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University. My training is primarily in economics but draws on other social science disciplines (e.g., psychology, sociology) to study relations between public policy and human development (e.g., health, human capital, and labor market outcomes).

I am on the 2022-2023 job market.
