My research is in applied microeconomics, with a focus on family, gender, and education. One current line of my research explores the effect of childbirth and access to maternity leave on mothers’ and fathers’ job performance outcomes. In another line of research, I examine intended and unintended consequences of government efforts to expand access to high-quality early care and education programs through increased public options and accountability systems.
I am currently a postdoctoral research fellow at Cornell University in the Department of Policy Analysis and Management with Dean Rachel Dunifon. I received my Ph.D. in the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University. My training is primarily in economics but draws on other social science disciplines (e.g., psychology, sociology) to study relations between public policy and human development (e.g., health, human capital, and labor market outcomes).
